What is Be A Looper?
Be A Looper is a free daily mental health check-in tool keep you "in the Loop" with five people anywhere in the world you can't live a day without checking in with. Be A Looper helps you to both share how your day is tracking, and also to keep a close eye on those you care about.
How many people can I add to my Loop?
Any user can add up to five 'Loopers' into their peer support network.
Why can I only add people through their email address?
This is to prevent any identifiable data being stored (like phone numbers). You will need to add a user's email address to your native contact list (your phones regular contact list), before you can add them to your Loop.
Who will see what I check-in?
All Loops are private. When you add a “Looper”, they will not get to see other people in your network, instead – they get to create their own safe network.
Why aren't I receiving push notifications on my iOS device?
There are a number of reasons push notifications might not be being received, try the following steps to try to resolve the issue;
Check that notifications are enabled in the Notifications section of the menu within the app.
Check that notifications are enabled for Be A Looper in the iPhone / Android settings.
- Note that push notifications will be received on the device that an account has most recently been logged in to. Try logging out and in to the device you would like to receive notifications on to trigger an update.
- If you have multiple accounts, make sure you are logged in to the account that you would like to receive notifications to.
Note that push notifications are not guaranteed by Apple / Google, so even if everything is setup correctly there is a chance that some notifications will not be received.
Why can't I access the contacts screen on my Android device?
On first check in, if you denied access for the Be A Looper app to use your contacts, the contacts screen will not function.
What happens to my data?
Be A Looper follows stringent security best practises in both the transmission and storage of data to ensure your privacy and information are safe. You can learn more in our comprehensive privacy policy.
Will I be added to a research program?
No. The free consumer version Be A Looper does not collect, track or own any data about it’s users surrounding their medication, therapy type, therapist details, healthcare providers details, home or workplace address or phone number. We don’t explicitly track any data surrounding gender, sexuality or religious preference.
Be A Looper is free and fully funded by Social Health Innovations, Inc as we believe it is not our right to take advantage of vulnerable people by charging them when may need our service the most. This is also, why we are not exclusive to one particular mobile device type or country.

What operating systems are supported by the Be A Looper app?
- iOS: 9.0 and up
- Android: 5.0 and up
Do I need to have cellular reception to use the Be A Looper app?
No, you do not need to have cellular reception. You just need to be connected to the internet (either via wifi or via data) to use the Be A Looper app.
Does the Be A Looper app work offline?
No, the Be A Looper app will not work offline (eg. in aeroplane mode). You must be connected to the internet (either via wifi or via data). The user will receive an error message "Oops! No such host is known".
How many people can I add to my Loop?
The maximum number of people you can have in your Loop is 5.
Why aren't all of my contacts appearing in the Looper contact screen?
Only contacts with an email address in your phone's contact list will appear in the Be A Looper contact screen.
Why didn't I receive a reminder at 4:00pm to check in?
If you have already checked in that day, you will not be prompted again at 4:00pm to check in. The 4:00pm reminder is for when you haven't checked in at all that day.

The Be A Looper infrastructure has been designed to provide best in class availability, performance, and scale. Utilising Amazon Web Services, the entire solution scales horizontally to support the number of users at a given time. This is built on the same infrastructure that run the worlds biggest internet companies like Netflix, Airbnb and Uber and follows the same design patterns.
I'm a medical professional. Can I prescribe Be A Looper to use with my patients?
No, you can not. Be A Looper is not a medical tool. This year, however, there will be the release of a HIPAA compliant enterprise version clinicians can use directly with patients. You can learn more here.
How do I close by account?
Simply send us an email at support@bealooper.com requesting your account to be closed. One of our friendly customer care team will confirm your account and action the process. The manual process may take up to 30 days.
